Defiende – Three Forks Trail Hike

Sat. July 6, 2019
8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Free and open to the public, registration required.

Celebrate a unique corner of the White River National Forest on a full-day hike on the scenic and remote Three Forks Trail near Rifle. This moderate, 10- mile hike offers wildness and opportunities for solitude. The Three Forks trail gently rolls through a variety of healthy forest types including Blue Spruce, Douglas Fir, and Aspen. Walking along East Rifle Creek, we will get a chance to observe several beaver ponds and talk about their important role in creating habitat for other creatures. As we near our turnaround point on Coulter Mesa, we will be rewarded by expansive views.

This free hike is sponsored by Alpine Bank, The Thrift Shop of Aspen, City of Aspen, The Aspen Times, True Nature Healing Arts, Ute Mountaineer, and Bristlecone Mountain Sports.
