The 30 x 30 initiative, also known as the Global Deal for Nature, is a worldwide campaign that calls for conserving 30% of the planet’s lands and waters by 2030, in order to reverse the effects of climate change globally. The initiative is supported by science, which finds that we cannot successfully combat climate change without a comprehensive, worldwide plan to protect nature, and thereby to mitigate harmful greenhouse gas emissions, support resilient ecosystems that provide clean air and water, safeguard wildlife species, and reduce toxic pollution. Colorado’s Senator Bennet and Representative Neguse have introduced the Thirty by Thirty Resolution to Save Nature in Congress, calling on the US to support the Global Deal for Nature by conserving 30% of US lands and waters by 2030. These are ambitious but necessary goals, and protecting public lands must be a core strategy in achieving them – with public lands making up over a third of all land in the US and in Colorado.

Once you take the pledge, you’ll be provided with options to fulfill it, including:

  1. Thank Sen. Bennet and Rep. Neguse for introducing the Thirty by Thirty Resolution to Save Nature
  2. Sign the petition in support of the Global Deal for Nature and the Thirty by Thirty Resolution to Save Nature
  3. Ask Sen. Gardner to vote YES for the CORE Act, which would protect more than 400,000 acres of public land in CO
  4. Recreate responsibly: stay on established trails, respect wildlife and habitat, and properly dispose of waste
