Restore Wildlife Habitat (remove barbed-wire fencing)

Sky Mountain Park in Snowmass
Saturday, September 21:
8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Free and open to the public, registration required.

Project Description: Help us remove old barbed wire fencing to allow animals to move freely across important elk and deer habitat in Sky Mountain Park. Vestiges of decades-old grazing operations, these disused fence lines now deteriorate and fragment wildlife habitat.

Directions: We will meet in the Buttermilk parking lot at 8:30AM for coffee and a light breakfast. Please arrive no later than 8:45 as we have to shuttle to the location as a cohesive group.

What to bring: Rain gear, closed toed shoes, sun protection and water bottles. Please bring your own lunch, water, sun protection, close-toed shoes, and long pants and long sleeved shirts. We’ll provide all the tools including gloves, but if you have a pair of heavy duty wire cutters feel free to bring those. Pizza & beer will be provided at the end of the day for all volunteers.
