The North Fork Valley, just over McClure Pass from Carbondale, is one of the most unique places around. It has been designated by the Governor as a Creative Cultural District, is home to the largest concentration of organic farms in the State of Colorado, and is one of two American Viticultural Areas (AVA) in Colorado. The North Fork Valley is also home to the highest altitude vineyards in the Northern Hemisphere, and is praised for its gold medal fishing, prime hunting, award-winning fruits and vegetables, unique biodiversity, and exceptional outdoor recreation.

Unfortunately, oil and gas company, Gunnison Energy, has been proposing to drill in the area for a long time. The company recently revised its longstanding drilling proposal with new plans that involve substantially more water—raising questions about where the water will come from, how the company will deliver it, and where it will go once they’re done with it.

Your help is needed to protect the North Fork Valley headwaters. Public comments on this North Fork Mancos Master Development Plan (NFMMDP) are due April 1st!
