The North Fork Valley, just over McClure Pass from Carbondale, is beautiful and unique. It has important public lands, and a growing food and wine culture that has drawn comparisons to California’s Napa Valley, Oregon’s wine country in the Willamette Valley, and Missouri’s outdoor recreation destination in the Lake of Ozarks area—all of which were nurtured and allowed to grow over the years into treasured and vibrant communities. Now, a 35-well natural gas development project is being proposed right in the middle of the headwaters to the North Fork Valley, which supply drinking and irrigation water to 500 residents.
Your help is needed to protect the North Fork Valley and important public lands that would be impacted by this proposal. Comments on the BLM’s Preliminary Environmental Assessment for this North Fork Mancos Master Development Plan are due June 9th! Please tell the BLM that this is no place for industrial natural gas development.
