The final hike in the “Explore Your BLM Wildlands” three-part mini-series, The Hogback Hike is an incredible, off-the-beaten-path jaunt up Andgee’s Ridge to a 8,052-feet peak in the heart of the Grand Hogback near Rifle. An old mining road splits off to an adventurous off-trail ridge-walk through a pinyon-juniper forest. The area is ripe with wildlife and spectacular views of the Hogback, Battlement and Grand mesas, the Roan Plateau, the Thompson Divide, and the Elk Mountains. Learn how Wilderness Workshop has been working to protect the HogBack and other BLM areas within the BLM.s Colorado River Valley Field Office.
