Bike the Thompson Divide
8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 10

Join Wilderness Workshop Staff Attorney Peter Hart and Naturalist Guide Brandon Jones on a scenic and challenging mountain bike ride in the Thompson Divide, beginning in the South Thompson Creek area. From there we will ride on a dirt road for about 10 miles to the beginning of our 1o mile single track ride, known as the Braderich Creek or Tall Pines trail, ending near Redstone. This is a rugged backcountry trail, so expect many fallen trees, hike-a-bike sections, and other fun but potentially challenging obstacles. Check out this amazing area and hear from Wilderness Workshop staff about the threats to the area, legislation to permanently protect the Thompson Divide, and get involved in the effort!

Riders are expected to be willing to help shuttle at the beginning of the day and to bring their own functional mountain bike, repair kit, sunscreen, water, and food. If this sounds like an adventure you’d like to experience, sign up!

Distance: approx 20 miles
Difficulty: Strenuous

This free hike is sponsored by Alpine Bank, The Thrift Shop of Aspen, City of Aspen, True Nature Healing Arts, Ute Mountaineer, and Bristlecone Mountain Sports.
