East Maroon Creek Hike, near Aspen

Join Wilderness Workshop on a hike in one of Colorado’s original Wilderness Areas. Designated in 1964 and expanded in 1980, the Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness Area provides some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Colorado.  The East Maroon Creek trail climbs gradually up the East Maroon Valley beneath the slopes of Pyramid Peak and along the flanks of Highlands Ridge. Time allowing we’ll make it to treeline or perhaps spot one of the Moose that have recently moved back into the Maroon and Castle Creek Valleys.

  • Difficult Hike: 8 miles total, with approximately 1500 feet elevation gain.
  • No dogs are allowed.
  • This adult program is appropriate for those 16 years and older who are strong hikers. Minors must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Bring appropriate day hike equipment including water, snacks, and lunch. Suggested Day Hike Gear List
