New oil and gas development threatens the North Fork Valley. Tell the BLM this is unacceptable.

Target: North Fork Mancos BLM managers Action: Sign a letter telling the BLM to protect the North Fork Valley from oil and gas. The North Fork Valley, just over McClure Pass from Carbondale, is beautiful and unique. It has important public lands, and a growing food and wine culture that has drawn comparisons to California’s Napa Valley, Oregon’s wine country in the Willamette Valley, and Missouri’s outdoor recreation destination in the Lake of Ozarks area—all of which were nurtured and allowed to grow over the years into treasured and vibrant communities. Now, a 35-well natural [...]

Tell Colorado regulators that Western Slope residents deserve strong protections against oil and gas emissions

Colorado’s Air Quality Control Commission (AQCC) is considering whether to strengthen air pollution standards for oil and gas operations statewide – and they’re accepting written comments. Stronger protections could significantly improve our air quality and our health, and combat climate change – BUT WE NEED YOU to make your voice heard. As always a personal letter is most effective. Please add some of you own comments as well.

PREVENT TRANSFER OF OIL & GAS MANAGEMENT TO INDIVIDUAL STATES

Target: Representative Scott Tipton Action: Call Representative Tipton at (970) 241-2499 (Grand Junction Office) and tell him you’re disappointed with his committee vote in support of the “Strengthening the Economy with Critical Untapped Resources to Expand (SECURE) American Energy Act” and urge him to vote NO on the act when it reaches the House floor. Key Messages: I am calling to express strong opposition to H.R. 4239, the “Strengthening the Economy with Critical Untapped Resources to Expand (SECURE) American Energy Act” This bill would transfer management authority for the permitting of federal oil and gas resources [...]

PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE WILDERNESS ACT

Target: Representative Scott Tipton Action: Call Representative Tipton at (970) 241-2499 (Grand Junction Office) or (202) 225-4761 (D.C. office) and ask him to continue his support of wilderness by opposing HR 1349. Key Messages: I am calling to ask Congressman Tipton to oppose H.R. 1349 which would remove protections for Wilderness Areas by allowing numerous forms of mechanized travel in designated wilderness. 85% of public lands in Colorado are available for mountain biking. Opening up wilderness areas to bikes is not necessary and would only cause tremendous ecological harm and significant management challenges. Thank you for [...]

STOP THE ANTI-FOREST FARM BILL

Target: Representative Scott Tipton Action: Call Representative Tipton at (970) 241-2499 (Grand Junction) or (202) 225-4761 (D.C.) and tell him to VOTE NO on the House Farm Bill (H.R. 2). Key Messages: I am calling to urge Representative Tipton to vote “no” on the House Farm Bill as currently drafted. Provisions in the bill threaten our national forests and undermine bedrock environmental protections. It is not what most Coloradans, or Mr. Tipton’s constituents, want for their public lands. The House Farm Bill includes several provisions that would decrease public input and environmental review on forestry [...]
